The City provides training,.eqwPment and uneforms. <br />Duties include es�forcing bicycle laws, patralling City bicycle paths, and <br />assisting o�cers at special events. <br />3) Interrrships (paid): New Initiative: The Department could est�b�Sh paid <br />{$7.50/honr) intemships for three to six month periods. The intemships <br />wauld be cr� at Ieast once per calendar ye�r or more often if a need exists. <br />Duties could include: extensive work with Communit�, Relations Coardinator, <br />attending MCAD meetings with Deputy ChieF, ride-a�ongs on each shift; <br />completing petitions and other paper work for 7uvenile O�cer; accompanying <br />City Attorney to court; researching or working an Special projects. <br />4) Lrnv Enforceme�tt �lorers (afftliated with $oy Scouts ofAmerira): �s <br />scoubn$-0nented group is for males and females between the ages of 14 and <br />20 who have an irrterest in law esiforcement. Throu�ah bi-weekiy rneeting� �d <br />training sessions, #he Explorers learn traffic/crowd control, accident <br />'mest�gations, crime prevention, community relations, self-defense, firearms <br />safety and competition si�oating, and domestic crisis intervention, amang <br />nther topics. Adult advisors work direct�y v,ri#h the Exp�orers and are all <br />Rosev�ile Palice Departrnent swom officers_ Explarers ogen a�s�� y�� ��� <br />and crowd control for special events, and provide information to the public <br />at the annual Police Department Open House. <br />5} Police Reserves (volunteer position): T'he Reserye� aze critica� to the <br />functioning of the Rasev7le PoGce Departmesrt, filling i� y�h�r� �arn offcers <br />are not required, thereby freeing officers ta handle mare calls, T}�e City <br />Pro�ides training, equipment and uniforms. The prima�y duties are to patrol <br />C��Y P� �d recreation areas, to enforce parking regulations by issuing <br />Administrative Offense tickets, to provide traffic ar�d crowd control at special <br />eventsy and ta provide prisoner transport to detention fa.ci3iries.
