ROSEVILLE POLICE C1VIL SERVICE COMMISSION <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 1997 <br />The mee#ing was called to order at 5:08pm. <br />Members Present: Joe Olson, Bob King, and Jack Weidenbach <br />Members Absent: none <br />Others Present: Paul Wood, Police Chiefi; Tom Alleva, Deputy Police Chief; <br />Carolyn Ganz; Administrative Analyst, and Karen Kurt, <br />Human Resources Director_ <br />New Business <br />1) The PDI assessment test was completed by applicants for the position of <br />Police OfFicer. A list of the test results was distributed. Chief Wood <br />recommended that a score of 70 or above be established as the criteria to <br />pass the exam. <br />Qlson suggested #hat the Commission seek a test with a stronger cognitive <br />component during the next applicafion process. <br />Motion: Olson moved to accept Chief Wood's recommendation of a passing <br />score of 70 or above. King seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br />2} Chief Wood distributed a summary sheet describing the process for the <br />Lieutenan# promotional exam. Chief Wood said that the four interested <br />candida#es would complete the process in one day. Wood also noted that <br />outside members of the law enforcement communify would be used during <br />the panel interviews. He encouraged members of the Commission to observe <br />the panel process as well. <br />King no#ed that interviewers will need to be facused on management potential <br />when evaluating the candidates. <br />Olson suggested that interviewers recei�e the questions in advance and that <br />they meet as a group to receive instruction prior to the panel process. <br />Motion: Weidenbach made a motion that the selection process outlined be <br />appro�ed. King seconded. Motion passed unanimously. <br />
