1. <br />PROMQTIONAL PROCESS: LIEUTENANT <br />June, 1997 <br />Vision Statement: `Two weeks prior to the exam day, candidates will be givcn a take-home <br />assignment which will be: a) the candidate's vision for the Lieutenant's position, and b) a <br />summa.ry of the candidate's professional accomplishmenis as they relate to the new posiiion. <br />The candidafes may tum in the assignmeni io Chief Wood on the day of the evaluation or <br />any timc prior to that date. <br />2. Leaderle�s Discussion: On ihe day af the examination, all four candidates will participate <br />in a"leaderless discussion" relating to their vision statements for the Lieutenant's position <br />and the Roseville Polic� Department. Discussion tirne will be approxitrtately one hour. <br />Discussion will be observed and scored by the Chief and Deputy Chief. [9ana to l0am] <br />3. Critical Inczdent Response: Fallowing the Leaderless Discussion, each candidate will be <br />given a prepared scenario and will be asked to write their response to the situation. The <br />response will be scored on its own mcrits; a discussion of the response will also be one of <br />the interview questions in the afternoon. [10:30axn to 11:30am] <br />4. Interviews: On the day of the examination, each candidate will be interviewcd by two <br />separate interview panels. Panel A will bc a peer group, comprising lieutenants or captains <br />from other metro arca law enforcement agcncies. Panel B will be a management group <br />comprising metro area Chiefs of Police and at leasi one Roseville Civil Service <br />Commissioner. Each interview will lasi appraximately 45 minutes.
