To oversee and coordinate special response units <br />such as Tactical and Crune Impact. The Lieutenant is responsible for supe�-vising , <br />assigning and evaluating i6e police sergeants assigned to patro� and exercises general <br />supervision over subordinate officers. Performs specialized duties as assigned by the Chief <br />of Police, and will assume responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the <br />Chief or Deputy Chief of Police in order to protect lives and property, prevent and detect <br />crime, investigate crime for successful prosecution, provide emergency services, enforce <br />Iaws and ordinances and maintain public arder. <br />DUT�ES AND RESPONSIBII,ITI�S <br />*1. Plans, organizes, and directs a11 police patrol operations. Determines priorities and <br />objectives, designs, recommends and implements policies and procedures within <br />Gmits outlined by the Chief of Police. <br />*2. Coordinates all activity by t�e patrol teams; ensures that work is effectively and <br />safely condncted thraugh adherence to department policies, procedures, <br />administrative directives and staffing requiremeats. <br />3. Periodically reviews patrol reports prepared 6y se�bordinate officers, and <br />occasionally attends and observes roll call sessions to stay abrcast of subordinate <br />needs. <br />*4. Responds to major incidents and assumes tactical command as necessary and <br />appropriate. Provides assistance and guidance to subordinates in difficult ar <br />problem sifuations. <br />*5. Supervises and sapports patroi sergeanfs in their assigned duties; conducts <br />performance evaluations for assigned personnel and administers positive and <br />punitive discipline as uecessary. <br />
