6. Oversees and may personally participate i� investigating criminallaw violations <br />occurring within the jurisdicfion of the department, obtaining evidences an <br />compi�eng iuformatiau regarding these crimes, prepares cases for filing charges, <br />testifying in court, and other related duties as necessary. <br />7. Performs research functions as assigned by the Chief or Deputy Chief. <br />*8. Reviews and analyzes information on patrol operations, statistics, laws, regulati�ons <br />and developments in law enforcement. Develop recommendations as appropriate for <br />long term departmental objectives. <br />*9. Keeps tb�e Chief informed of pertinent developments which are necessary to carry <br />out the Chiefls responsibilities. <br />*10. Supervises the scheduGug aad coordina�ion of shifts, <br />*i 1. Maintains contact with the general public, court officials, and other City Staff in the <br />performance of police duties. <br />*12. Makes plans about individual tactical matters such as equipment to be used for a <br />particvlar operation or detailed plans that may be ueeded for an investigation. <br />Responds to major i�ncidents and assumes command as appropriate. <br />*13, Carries out daties in conformance with FederaI, State, County, and local lavvs and <br />ordinances. <br />*14. Assists in the preparation axtd administration of the departmental budget; <br />recoramends purchasing and updates of equipnaent used by patroZ. <br />*15. Coordinates, evaluates and assists the Deputy Chief in t�e training pracess to ensure <br />that oi�icers are given the lcn�ovvledge to mai�tain the highest leveI ef efficiency in the <br />perfortnance of their dnties. <br />16. Coordinates activities with sapervisors of ather city departments, exchanges <br />information with officcrs in other law enforcement age�►cies, and obtains advice <br />from the City Attorney, Couniy Attorney, a�nd Attarney General's Office, when <br />appropriate. <br />17. Schedales and conducts meetings with svbordinates and sfaff as needed. <br />*l.$. Fosters and encourages the Community Oriented Policc Concept. <br />*19. Coordinates all activities relevant to the disciplinary process with the deputy Chief <br />of Police. <br />
