MINUTSS <br />ROSEVILLE POLICE CIV�L SERVICE COMMISSION <br />FEBRUARY 6, 1995 <br />The meeting was called ta order by Jack Weidenbach, Chairman, at <br />✓: v.�i p".+.iii. <br />Members Present: Bob King, Jack Weidenbach, and Joe olson. <br />Others Present: Chief Zelinsky, Deputy Chief Alleva, Sally <br />Chial, Officers Steve Frazer, Mike Palermo, <br />Anne O'Neill, Shawn Carter and Rick Mathwig. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of January 19, 1995 were approved. Roll call, Ayes: <br />King, Weidenbach and Olson. Nays: None. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1. The first item for discussion was electian of otficers for <br />1995. The following office�s wexe elected: Bob King, Chair; <br />Joe Olson, Vice-Chair; and Jack Weidenbach, Secretary. Roll <br />call, all Ayes. <br />2. There was extensive discussion of �the sergeants testing <br />process. The focus of the discussion was how much weight each <br />testing category would be given. The commission would like to <br />see m�re situational exercises that would demonstrate an the <br />job performance. It was decided that the job descriptian would <br />be used in deciding how situational exercises could parallel <br />the requirements of the position. <br />The cammission decided the Institute of �orensic Psychology's <br />methods did not provide as well-rounded testing processes as <br />PDI. It was decided that PDI would be asked to came back to <br />further discuss how their processes could be tied in to meet <br />Roseville's objectives. They would like to see the interview <br />be given more points.. It was a1.so discussed the portion of <br />feedback that should be peer review versus the serg�ant's <br />supervisory review. The following is a recommended outline: <br />Police career index, Z5% <br />In basket, 2Q% <br />Oral Interview, 350 <br />Promotability Index (Peer), 15% <br />Psychological Testing, I5% <br />The intex-viewing portion should incorporate dynamic <br />interviewing which would bring out skills such as creativity, <br />
