Recycling <br />Ramsey County Recycling Policies <br />1. Ramsey County requires municipalities to assure recycling service is available to all residents at <br />their place of residence, including multi -unit dwellings. Ramsey County encourages a level of <br />service that will maximize residential recycling. <br />2. Recycling is a necessary component of waste management in Ramsey County. Ramsey County <br />expects residents, businesses and institutions to incorporate recycling into the handling of <br />discarded materials, and recognizes that it is the responsibility of everyone in Ramsey County to <br />achieve State recycling goals. <br />3. Ramsey County will lead by example, assuring that County- occupied property is designed for <br />recycling, that employees and users of County property have the opportunity to recycle, and <br />that County recycling operations implement best - management practices. <br />4. Ramsey County will work with municipalities, school districts and other public entities to assure <br />that recycling opportunities are maximized. The County will use outreach and education, <br />planning and evaluation, regulation, financial incentives, technical assistance and consultation <br />to accomplish recycling objectives. <br />5. Ramsey County will provide financial support to municipalities using State SCORE funds, when <br />those funds are available, to support municipal recycling and related programs, subject to <br />SCORE grant requirements. <br />Ramsey County Recycling Strategies — County - specific <br />Ramsey County will assure that all County- occupied property is designed or remodeled to <br />include sufficient space for the collection of recycling and waste collection. In addition, Ramsey <br />County will assure that all County- occupied properties offer employees and visitors the <br />opportunity to recycle and dispose of waste. <br />2. Ramsey County will ensure that all County- occupied spaces have recycling programs in place in <br />accordance with State law that include, at a minimum, paper, cardboard, glass bottles, metal <br />cans and plastic beverage and food containers, as well as organic waste when it is present in <br />sufficient volumes. <br />3. Ramsey County will annually pass through a portion of SCORE funds received by the County to <br />municipalities on a per- capita basis to provide partial support of municipal recycling and related <br />programs, subject to SCORE grant requirements.
