RETH INK Op <br />RECYCLING® <br />2. Evaluate cooperative purchasing efforts that provide for more efficient <br />operation of county HHW programs; <br />3. Assist member counties in HHW system planning by coordinating an <br />evaluation of driving distances as a measure of convenience, to determine if <br />gaps exist in the availability of HHW programs; <br />4. Coordinate discussions about elements of county regulatory compliance <br />strategies, including licensing, inspection, consultation and enforcement, to <br />ensure that hazardous waste is properly managed throughout the Region; <br />and <br />5. Evaluate emerging issues related to hazardous waste, such as proper <br />management of pharmaceutical waste. <br />In partnership with the MPCA, the SWMCB will: <br />9. Monitor product use that may affect the level of toxic /hazardous materials in <br />the waste stream and coordinate with the MPCA to identify solutions to <br />reduce the toxicity of waste; <br />1O.Develop a statewide policy for product stewardship and support related <br />product stewardship legislation that addresses problem materials and <br />products with toxic and hazardous components; and <br />11.Develop household hazardous waste disposal contracts that provide for cost - <br />effective and environmentally preferable recycling and disposal options for <br />county - collected household hazardous waste. <br />2011 -2030 Regional Solid Waste Master Plan <br />Approved by the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board on December 14, 2011 Appendix V Page 36 <br />
