Excerpts from the City of Shoreview Recycling Contract <br />EXHIBIT A <br />CITY OF SHOREVIEW <br />COMPREHENSIVE RECYCLING PROGRAM <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />L INTRODUCTION <br />These specifications define the requirements of the Comprehensive Recycling <br />Program for the City of Shoreview. <br />II. DEFINITIONS <br />1. RECYCLABLES - means newsprint and inserts, unsorted glass bottles <br />and jars (food and beverage containers), unsorted aluminum, steel, <br />bimetal, and "tin" cans (food and beverage containers), unsorted small <br />necked plastic bottles, magazines, corrugated cardboard and "mixed <br />mail' (including household office paper and mail). <br />14. PROCESS RESIDUALS - means the normal amount of material that <br />can not be economically recycled due to material characteristics such as <br />size, shape, color, cross - material contamination, etc. and must be <br />disposed as mixed municipal solid waste. PROCESS RESIDUALS <br />does not include clean, separated products that are normally processed <br />and prepared for shipment to markets as commodities but are of <br />relatively low -value because of depressed market demand conditions. <br />15. MARKET DEMAND - means the economic and technical capacity of <br />markets to use recyclable material to make new products. <br />16. MARKETS - means any person or company that buys (or charges) for <br />recycling of specified materials and may include, but are not limited to: <br />end - markets, intermediate processors, brokers and other recycling <br />material reclaimers. <br />III. COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS <br />A. RESIDENTIAL COLLECTION <br />6. PROCEDURE FOR UNACCEPTABLE RECYCLABLES — If <br />Contractor determines that a resident has set out unacceptable <br />recyclables; the driver shall use the following procedure: <br />A. Contractor shall leave the unacceptable recyclables and <br />leave an "education tag" indicating acceptable materials <br />and the proper method of preparation. <br />B. The driver shall record the address and report the <br />address to the City Recycling Coordinator at the end of <br />each week. <br />B1605 3 <br />
