Chair. <br />Commissioner Brisbois nominated Gary Grefenberg as Chair of the HRC. <br />There being no other nominations Vice Chair Singleton closed the nominations. <br />Commissioner Brisbois moved and Commissioner Thao seconded a motion to elect <br />Gary Grefenberg as the Chair of the HRC. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Commissioner Thao nominated Jill Brisbois as Vice -Chair of the HRC. <br />Commissioner Singleton nominated himself for Vice -Chair of the HRC. <br />Commissioner Brisbois addressed the group stating she would like to serve as the <br />Vice -Chair stating she would continue to work hard for the HRC. She understood the <br />goals of the group and would be honored to assume a leadership role. <br />Commissioner Singleton stated leadership positions required confidence in the <br />commission, demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to attendance, noting <br />he had only missed one meeting in five years. He indicated he has made the HRC a <br />priority for the past five years. He said his goals and objections derived in the past <br />have been reached and he was pleased this was done under his leadership. He <br />indicated he would continue on growing partnerships with businesses in the <br />community while also reaching out to minority groups. He noted he had the support <br />of the current chair and had a great working relationship with Chair Grefenberg. He <br />requested the support of the members as Vice Chair. <br />A vote was taken by secret ballot, as requested by the Commission. City Manager Bill <br />announced the results as four for Brisbois, two for Singleton, and one abstention. Jill <br />Brisbois was elected as HRC Vice - Chair. <br />Chair Grefenberg and Commissioner Brisbois thanked Vice -Chair Singleton for his <br />service to the Human Right Commission. <br />Future Agenda Items <br />Chair Grefenberg questioned if the Commission needed to meet in December. <br />Commissioner Thao moved and Commissioner Doneen seconded a motion to cancel <br />the December HRC meeting. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Announcements <br />Chair Grefenberg stated there was a Minnesota Human Rights Conference this <br />weekend. He noted the event would be held in St. Paul and cost $85. <br />Commissioner Brisbois reviewed the conference information with the group. <br />Commissioner Groff and Youth Commissioner Laden were able to attend the event on <br />Saturday. <br />Commissioner Singleton and Youth Commissioner Dao were able to attend the <br />conference on Monday. <br />
