Chair. Commissioner Brisbois nominated Gary Grefenberg as Chair of the HRC. There being no other nominations Vice Chair Singleton closed the nominations. Commissioner Brisbois moved and Commissioner Thao seconded a motion to elect Gary Grefenberg as the Chair of the HRC. Motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Thao nominated Jill Brisbois as Vice -Chair of the HRC. Commissioner Singleton nominated himself for Vice -Chair of the HRC. Commissioner Brisbois addressed the group stating she would like to serve as the Vice -Chair stating she would continue to work hard for the HRC. She understood the goals of the group and would be honored to assume a leadership role. Commissioner Singleton stated leadership positions required confidence in the commission, demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to attendance, noting he had only missed one meeting in five years. He indicated he has made the HRC a priority for the past five years. He said his goals and objections derived in the past have been reached and he was pleased this was done under his leadership. He indicated he would continue on growing partnerships with businesses in the community while also reaching out to minority groups. He noted he had the support of the current chair and had a great working relationship with Chair Grefenberg. He requested the support of the members as Vice Chair. A vote was taken by secret ballot, as requested by the Commission. City Manager Bill announced the results as four for Brisbois, two for Singleton, and one abstention. Jill Brisbois was elected as HRC Vice - Chair. Chair Grefenberg and Commissioner Brisbois thanked Vice -Chair Singleton for his service to the Human Right Commission. Future Agenda Items Chair Grefenberg questioned if the Commission needed to meet in December. Commissioner Thao moved and Commissioner Doneen seconded a motion to cancel the December HRC meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Announcements Chair Grefenberg stated there was a Minnesota Human Rights Conference this weekend. He noted the event would be held in St. Paul and cost $85. Commissioner Brisbois reviewed the conference information with the group. Commissioner Groff and Youth Commissioner Laden were able to attend the event on Saturday. Commissioner Singleton and Youth Commissioner Dao were able to attend the conference on Monday.
