Commissioner Thao volunteered to read through the entire group essays. <br />Commissioner Doneen moved and Commissioner Thao seconded a motion to approve <br />the new process for reviewing the student essays as proposed. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Old Business: <br />Celebration of the Work of the Civic Engagement Task Force <br />Chair Grefenberg asked what funds were available to the HRC to host a celebration <br />to acknowledge the work completed by the Civic Engagement Task Force. <br />Ms. Curti noted the HRC had $985 with $175 of that already designated to the State <br />League. <br />Chair Grefenberg stated he would like to have a reception or celebration and needed <br />volunteers to assist in planning the event. He asked if the event could be funded <br />through HRC funds. <br />City Manager Malinen stated this would be allowed as a function of the HRC. <br />Commissioner Thao volunteered to organize the event. <br />Chair Grefenberg estimated that 10 -12 members of the HRC and Civic Engagement <br />Task Force would be in attendance. He stated he would like the event held prior to <br />December 31, 2012, because its funding would come out of the approximately <br />$1.000 unexpended this year. <br />Commissioner Thao commented she would not be able to plan an event in the next <br />five weeks, given her work and family obligations. <br />City Manager Bill Malinen commented that since the City was now working under a <br />biennial budget it might still be possible for the event to be paid out of 2012 funds. <br />Chair Grefenberg then suggested the event could be held after the first of the year <br />for an expense not to exceed $300. <br />The Youth Commissioners volunteered to assist Commissioner Thao with the event. <br />Commissioner Thao moved and Commissioner Groff seconded a motion to allot $300 <br />for a celebration /reception to recognize the Civic Engagement Task Force. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Staff Report <br />Financial Report <br />There was nothing additional to report. <br />Election of Commission Chair and Vice -Chair <br />Chair Grefenberg requested Vice -Chair David Singleton conduct the election of the <br />
