Department Approval <br />�� <br />Item Description <br />BACKGROUND <br />�1� <br />�+ <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 10/22/12 <br />Item No.: 7.i <br />City Manager Approval <br />Award Contract for Engineering Services for the construction of Tw�N <br />LAKES 2ND ADDrT�oN Public Improvements <br />On July 23, 20] 2, the City Council approved the final plat and Development Agreement for <br />TwiN LAKES 2ND A��ITION. The agreement, with Wal-Mart, included the following conditions: <br />a. <br />[7 <br />The City will construct all roadway infrastructure improvements. <br />The Developer will be responsible for roadway infrastructure construction costs <br />associated with the required left/right turn lane improvements along County Road C <br />between Cleveland Avenue and Prior Avenue and related to a site access point. <br />c. The Developer is responsible for roadway infrastructure construction costs <br />associated with a right turn lane along Twin Lakes Parkway between Cleveland Avenue <br />and the round-about at Mount Ridge Road. <br />To accomplish this work, the City will retain engineering services from a consultant. Staff <br />developed a scope of work for the engineering services needed to review the plans, develop <br />specifications, and provide construction observation for the City administered roadway <br />infrastructure improvements. <br />We received 2 proposals for this work and have reviewed them. The following are the proposals <br />received: <br />Consultant Name Design Construction Cost <br />Review Services <br />Bolton & Menk, Inc. $5,280 $35,310 $40,590 <br />TKDA $7,400 $37,500 $44,900 <br />Copies of each proposal are available in the Public Works Department. Staff has checked <br />references and is recommending award of this consulting work to Bolton & Menk, Inc. as the <br />recommended iirm for this work. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />Staff seeks to find the most cost effective purchasing opportunities to meet budgetary and <br />operational objectives. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS <br />The city's cost for these public improvements will be funded by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The total <br />cost for engineering services for this contract is estimated at $5,280 for Design Review and <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
