February 20, 2013 <br />Item 7 <br />Strategic Plan <br />✓� Achteved when upon corycpletion of the Task Force's Report this fall the <br />Cominission recommended to the Council that a separate Civic Engagement <br />Commission be established. <br />B. Develop programs and recommendations for the Council to encourage <br />and assist in the development of neighborhood groups, forums, and <br />networks in order to provide residents with a sense of belonging and <br />facilitate ef%ctive citizen engagement. <br />✓� Completed with Neighborhood and Community Engagement Task Force <br />presentation to the Council on October 22, 2012 <br />✓� Awaiting Council action. In the meantime the Cominission continues with <br />its Civic Engagement �esponsibilities. <br />C. Develop a process to monitor statistical and other data trends. Use the <br />information to create a series of programs and diversity dialogues. <br />i Little achieved. Awaiting response from the Minnesota Department of Human <br />Rights regarding sharing data on discrimination complaints filed with the State. <br />D. Continue and build upon current programs and diversity dialogues <br />with a focus on local and state issues. Purpose is to encourage <br />recognition and respect for civil and human rights, and mutual <br />understanding and appreciation_among our citizens � on the <br />community's diversity. <br />✓� Significant wo�k achieved on program�ning on local and state issues with <br />four programs and one forum on state constitutional amendments. <br />� Regarding Diversity Dialogues little progress except for the inclusion of gays <br />and lesbians as part of our community's dialogues. <br />E. Focus on p�o��^ams on violence �revention (usin,� Meadowlark ��ant), <br />mental illness sti�matization, and cultu�al diversitv, and then as a <br />secondayy prio�ity supporting other programs on gav �ights and othe� <br />human rights issues. <br />F. Develop parameters and policies for future programming, including <br />the relationship between programs and positions on human rights <br />issues. <br />✓�Achieved by the P�og�am Planning Committee with Commission adoption of <br />their recornmended Parameters for Future Programs at its September 19, 2012, <br />meeting. <br />G.
