February 20, 2013 <br />Item 7 <br />Strategic Plan <br />✓�Achieved with a reinvigoratedpresentation to the Council which di�ectly <br />involved the Youth Commissioners, and in the fall with a �^eassessment of our <br />evaluation process and criteria, and a successful effort to influence the state- <br />wide League program which adopted one of ou� �ecommended topics. <br />H. Provide a forum for Roseville residents to �rovide citizen input on <br />topics of interest on issues of civic enga�ement and human ri_ghts• <br />✓➢ The purpose of all Commission according to the draft Uniform <br />Coinmission Code is "to provide a method for citizen input on topics of <br />interest". This past year the HRC has already effectively achieved this purpose <br />by its public for~um on the marriage amendment, its other programs on the <br />Constitutional Amendments, and the two �neetings this past fall on police <br />intervention rega�ding an incident in a Roseville neighborhood and the police <br />actions regarding a Lynx basketball players, these last two items brought to it <br />by certain Roseville �esidents. <br />4� DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS POLICIES AND STRATEGIES <br />A. Determine feasibility of Commission adopting a position regarding <br />this fall's state constitutional amendment on defining marriage, as <br />well as other constitutional amendments which have direct impact on <br />human and civil rights. <br />✓� Achieved on May 19, 2012, when HRC adopted a position on the proposed <br />Constitutional Amendment on Marriage and subsequent transmittal to Council, and <br />with testimony to the Council at their August 27, 2012, session. <br />B. Continue to consider whether and how the Commission should take <br />positions_on issues impacting human and civil rights when a�propriate <br />and while maintaining focus and consistency with the Commission's <br />purpose and duties as outlined in Roseville City Code, Chapter 204, <br />and so advise the City Council. <br />i Ongoing responsibility <br />Attachment: Chapter 204 of the Roseville City Code <br />HRC Current Status Review of 2012 Strategic Plan and 2013 Revisions & Initiatives 4 <br />
