Reassess the Student Essay �� rop cess_as to possible improvements. <br />✓➢Achieved with in the fall of 2013 with a reassessment of our evaluation process <br />and c�iteria, and a successful effort to influence the state-wide League p�ogra�n <br />which adopted one of our recommended topics. <br />i Continue assessin� various im�rovements to Essav Contest�rocessefor <br />selecting essav winners, with consideration ofYeco n� izin� the diversitv o essay <br />topics and re�resentation of each �artici�atin� schools, as discussed at February <br />20, 2013, Commission meetin�. <br />✓H. Provide a forum for Roseville residents to provide citizen input on <br />topics of inter�est on issues of civic enga�ement and human rights. <br />➢ The pu�pose of all Commission according to the draft Uniform Commission <br />Code is "to provide a rnethod for citizen input on topics of interest". This past yea� <br />the HRC has already effectively achieved this purpose by its public forum on the <br />ma�riage amendment, its other programs on the Constitutional Ainendments, and <br />the two meetings this past fall on police intervention rega�ding an incident in a <br />Roseville neighborhood and the police actions regarding a Lynx basketball <br />players, these last two items brought to it by certain Roseville residents. <br />4� DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS POLICIES AND STRATEGIES <br />✓A. Determine feasibility of Commission adopting a position regarding <br />this fall's state constitutional amendment on defining marriage, as well <br />as other constitutional amendments which have direct impact on human <br />and civil rights. <br />� Achieved on May 19, 2012, when HRC adopted a position on the proposed Constitutional <br />Amendinent on Marriage and subsequent transmittal to Council, and with testimony to the <br />Council at their August 27, 2012, session. <br />B. Continue to consider whether and how the Commission should take <br />positions_on issues impacting human and civil rights when a�pro�riate <br />and while maintaining focus and consistency with the Commission's <br />purpose and duties as outlined in Roseville City Code, Chapter 204, and <br />so advise the Citv Council. <br />i Ongoing responsibility <br />Attachments: Chapter 204 of the Roseville City Code <br />HRC Current Status Review of 2012 Strategic Plan and 2013-2014 Revisions & Initiatives 4 <br />
