<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 3/18/13 <br /> Item No.: 7.e <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve No Parking Resolu tion- County Road D between Lexington Ave and <br />Victoria Street <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />B ACKGROUND 1 <br />The City is reconstructing County Road D between Le xington Ave and Victoria Street, which is part of 2 <br />the City’s Municipal State Aid (MSA) system. 3 <br /> 4 <br />State Aid standards do not allow parking on both side s of 2 lane roads narrower than 38 feet. Dale 5 <br />Street will be reconstructed to a 35 foot width from Lexington Ave to Hafner Street. Parking will be 6 <br />permitted on the north side and “no parking” signs will be posted on the south side of the street. The 7 <br />street will be widened to 40 feet wide between Hafner Street and Victoria Street, as a result parking will 8 <br />be allowed on both sides in this segment. The proposed parking restrictions have been discussed with 9 <br />residents throughout the project development. 10 <br /> 11 <br />The State requires a Council resolution prohibiting park ing where street width does not meet State Aid 12 <br />standards for parking on both sides. 13 <br />P OLICY O BJECTIVE 14 <br />In order to utilize available MSA funds, the City must post parking in accordance with adopted State 15 <br />Aid standards. 16 <br />S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION 17 <br />Approve the attached resolution prohibiting parki ng on the south side of County Road D between 18 <br />Lexington Ave and Hafner Street.
