Vice -Chair Brisbois then took up this item on the Agenda (Item #7) originally placed later on the
agenda, asking if the Commission had any comments or changes to the Strategic Plan. Some
Commissioners expressed confusion as to the Plan's format. Since some members of the
Commission had not received their meeting packets until that day, Brisbois recommended this
item be discussed at the March HRC meeting.
Program Planning Committee
Committee Chair Doneen stated the Program Planning Committee had met with Ariella Tilsen
(facilitator for the Community Dialogues on Violence), Megan Dushin, and others. She
indicated the City had received the Meadowlark grant money and that planning had begun for
two community dialogues tentatively scheduled at the end of April and early May.
Doneen said the community at large would be invited to these evening dialogues, and various
stakeholders were also being invited to take part in planning these Dialogues, including
representatives from the Roseville Police Department and the Roseville School District. She
added that representatives from the community of mental health providers were also being
sought to be added to the planning group, the Design Team.
Doneen stressed that the intent was not to invite "talking heads" or experts to address Dialogue
participants, but rather to have a community conversation with participants and stakeholders.
Hopefully from these dialogues some kind of future plan or actions would naturally evolve,
reinforcing a sense of community or neighborhood connectivity.
Ms. Curti stated the tentative dates selected for the community dialogues were April 30 and May
14 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Commissioner Doneen asked if the Program Planning Committee should go from four members
to three. She indicated if this change were made it would eliminate the notification process. She
explained the Dialogue planning group was currently meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and
would be doing so for the next three months. She stated that she and Chair Grefenberg were
serving on the Design Team-at this time.
Commissioner Thao said she was no longer available for day meetings.
Commissioner Singleton indicated he was willing to serve on the Program Planning Committee
until May.
Ms. Curti stated the next planning meeting of the Design Team would be held on March 4 at
3:30 p.m.
Outreach Committee
Vice -Chair Brisbois commented the Outreach Committee met on January 26 and discussed goals
for the coming year, noting that the Committee questioned whether there were more effective
ways to reach the Community. She added that it did not appear that the Committee had anything
shockingly- different than the strategic goals outlined in the new Strategic Plan.
G
