Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 16, 2013 <br />Commissioners: Scot Becker, Vice Chair Jill Brisbois, Chair Gary Grefenberg, Wayne <br />Groff, David Singleton and Kaying Thao <br />Youth Commissioners: Joan Dao, Julia Laden and Marie Siliciano (arriving at <br />approximately 7:30pm) <br />Commissioners Absent: Kristin Doneen (excused) <br />Staff Present: Carolyn Curti and City Manager Bill Malinen <br />Also Present for part of the meeting: Megan Dushin, Greg Simbeck, and Mary Lou Mohn <br />Call to Order <br />The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Chair <br />Grefenberg requested staff call the roll. <br />Approve Agenda <br />Commissioner Singleton moved and Commissioner Groff seconded a motion to approve the <br />agenda as revised adding a Citation of Appreciation. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Kudos to Police Department for Recognition from Karen Community: <br />Chair Grefenberg indicated that this item had been moved up on the agenda in order not to <br />inconvenience the Roseville Police Department. He congratulated and recognized the Roseville <br />Police Department for their work with the Karen Community. He appreciated the fact that the <br />City's civil service employees were reaching out to a newly- arrived minority community whose <br />previous experience in their original homeland had not endeared them to the police. <br />Roseville Police Lt. Scott Williams introduced himself to the group. <br />Chair Grefenberg then read a certificate commending the Roseville Police Department for the <br />work supporting the Karen Community. He said the Human Rights Commission appreciated the <br />work of Lt. Williams and the entire Police Department. <br />Approve Minutes <br />Commissioner Brisbois moved and Commissioner Singleton seconded a motion to approve the <br />November 28, 2012 meeting minutes as amended. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Public Comment <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Commission on an item not on the agenda, <br />the chair moved to the next agenda item. <br />
