k"\-eAlA--A 44
Kari Collins
From: Gary Grefenberg <ggrefenberg @comcast.net>
Sent: Monday, February 25, 2013 4:57 PM
To: Bill Malinen
Cc: Robert Willmus; Dan Roe;Tim Pratt
Subject: Re:Chronic Audio Problems for Human Rights Commissions Broadcasts
Bill:
Thank you for a complete response to my previous e-mails on the audio problem
If I hurt anyone's feelings by referring to the problem as chronic, I am sorry. I believe I used that word
appropriately, but I understand you can disagree with its use.
The audio for the January 2013 Commission meeting was not available for the first thirty of so
minutes. I hope you can trust that I was not fabricating that information. Though the visual and audio
for that meeting is now available, I still believe it important that the live transmissions with audio be
available during live broadcast, as I know you do. Council member Willmus called that problem to my
attention last month, so if you need verification please contact him.
I was not aware that Council member Willmus had also drawn staffs attention to the audio failure last
week.
As to your statement, If what you were looking to do was bring the problem to the attention of someone, then
you could simply do that. But in addition, you asked him to advise YOU about the cause and correction, I do
not believe that it was at all inappropriate to request to ask for the cause of a problem and how it
would be corrected. As the chair of a commission charged with promoting civic engagement, I realize
the importance of having commission meetings broadcast live, an opinion I know you share.
So it was not my intent to direct Mr. Pratt to report to me, but only raise the problem with the persons
responsible for city broadcasts. I believe that is part of my role as a commission chair, but I sense you
may not agree with me on how I do that. I beleive that is my decision, however.
I don't understand your emphasis on going through you, but I will copy you on any problems the HRC
or myself as HRC chair believe should be addressed. I also welcome the continuation of this
discussion.
Again thank you for your detailed response to my e-mail.
Gary G
645-6161
Original Message
From Bill Malinen
To: Gary Grefenberq
Cc: Tim Pratt ; Dan Roe
Sent: Monday, February 25, 2013 3:47 PM
Subject: RE: Chronic Audio Problems for Human Rights Commissions Broadcasts
1
