92 <br />93 <br />94 <br />95 <br />96 <br />97 <br />98 <br />Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />March 20, 2013 — Draft Minutes <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />Commissioner poneen agreed to speak with several teachers on the essay scoring rubric to seek <br />suggestions or recommendations and would report back to the HRC next month. <br />Chair Grefenberg thanked the Commission for their discussion this evening. He requested <br />Commissioner poneen revise the essay contest�g� 2014 provisions �� to be approved <br />at the April � meeting. <br />99 Update on Planning for Community Dialogues on Violence: Chair Grefenberg indicated the <br />l00 upcoming community dialogues on violence were scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th at 5:15 p.m. <br />101 and on Tuesday, May 14th at 5:15 p.m. The dialogues would be held at the skating center. <br />102 <br />103 Commissioner poneen then provided the Commission with additional information on the <br />104 planned community dialogues. She noted people would meet in small groups and would discuss <br />105 a list of questions. From these discussions, information/issues would be harvested by the <br />106 facilitators. It was noted that two facilitators would be used at the event, ••�'��^'� ••�'�^°° °°���^°� <br />to7 whose-estimated �services-would cost $1,500. <br />1os <br />109 Chair Grefenberg then advised the Commission that, in consultation with Program Planning <br />110 Committee chair poneen, $500 had been moved from another cate�ory (PR/Administrative) to <br />� t 1 the Facilitators categor_y, raisin� that amount to $1,500, to cover the cost referred to bX <br />112 Commissioner poneen. <br />113 <br />114 Commissioner poneen stated the youth commissioners would be invited to participate in the <br />115 event while also encouraging youth to talce part in the event. She requested the Commission <br />116 consider having a meal provided at the community dialogues to increase participation. <br />117 <br />118 After some discussion on what previous community forums or dialogues had cost, Chair <br />1 l9 Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Singleton seconded a motion to authorize the Program <br />12o Planning Committee �e�€ a� su�plemental-$500 from the HRC's Cit_y allocation for <br />121 additional costs such <br />122 as the provision of bevera�es and food. Motion passed unanimously. <br />123 <br />124 League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions (LHRC) <br />125 <br />126 Essay Awards Luncheon Apri127th in Roseville: �� F.-�r�e�e�z��ke��� ��� <br />127 � . <br />128 e�o���e�4�e���s-�����s€-�l}e—�F�Unlike previously reported the <br />129 Commission would not pay for the cost of this luncheon. <br />130 <br />l31 Selection of Alternate to Represent Commission: Chair Grefenberg indicated the League of <br />132 Minnesota Cities Human Rights Commission met seven or eight times a year and he was <br />133 currently the City of Roseville's liaison. He was recently made aware that � he could <br />134 have an alternate and questioned if anyone on the HRC was willing to serve in this capacity, as <br />135 he � may not be able to attend some of the next five meetings. <br />136 <br />
