Apri] 17, 2013 <br />Item S.a.ii <br />Community Dialogues <br />Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />Community Dialogues: Violence Prevention <br />MEETING NOTES <br />Design Team Meeting <br />April 1, 2013 <br />3:30pm-4:45pm in Hawthorne Room <br />Roseville City Hall <br />Present: Ariella Tilsen; Kris Doneen; Gary Grefenberg; David Singleton; and <br />Megan Dushin (by phone) <br />1) Check-in/Agenda Review <br />2) Fine-tuning the Dialogue Focus <br />• Are we being too prescriptive? Ariella's question: general agreement <br />that we cannot presume our assumptions on the direction of this two- <br />part dialogue will be what actually happens. <br />Revised & Confirmed first question: <br />"When have you " , felt <br />safe and connected in your community, however you define <br />community?" (Question for first two rounds) <br />Second and final question is <br />"How might we foster a safe and connected Roseville, both <br />individually and collectively in our neighborhoods, schools, <br />businesses, etc. ?" <br />• Are we forgetting about the subject Prevention of Violence? Gary's <br />question; we need to remember the original intent of these dialogues <br />was to bring people together to discuss violence, not to discuss civic <br />engagement. We are not looking to discourage ' negative' answers to <br />this first question. <br />3) Dialogue Discussion Groups & Event Logistics: 5 persons per <br />table. No one should assume the role of facilitator at tables, nor a <br />note-taker.
