Included in your packet is Lexington Park as an example of a process and a preliminary plan set that staff <br />36 <br />will briefly review with you at the meeting to provide you with an idea of the actual process and input we <br />37 <br />are gathering from the neighborhoods and community. Michael Schroeder, LHB will be at both your <br />38 <br />meetings in May to review all completed preliminary plan sets to date. The next step then will be to <br />39 <br />complete the detailed construction plans and specifications for the projects and begin work in the fall. <br />40 <br />41 <br />There is an extensive playground and natural resource emphasis to the Renewal Program. Specifically <br />42 <br />there will be a $1.6M investment in the replacement of playgrounds and a $1.5M investment in natural <br />43 <br />resource attention system wide. Most preliminary plans mentioned above will include a component of <br />44 <br />each where they are either existing and/or practical. <br />45 <br />46 <br />Using the Best Value Business Model, with City Attorney and Arizona State University (ASU) guidance, <br />47 <br />request for proposals (RFP’s) were issued for playground vendors and for natural resource project <br />48 <br />th <br />consultants on January 18, 2013. The RFP’s were advertised online and in all known locations. <br />49 <br />50 <br />There were seven playground vendors that responded to the RFP. The evaluation team consisted of six <br />51 <br />individuals, including city staff and a member from the Parks and Recreation Commission. Through the <br />52 <br />process, a Best Value Vendor has been identified. City staff, City Attorney and ASU are working <br />53 <br />through the clarification phase and plan to bring a contract for you to consider on April 22, 2013. <br />54 <br />55 <br />There were two natural resource vendors that responded to the RFP. The evaluation team consisted of six <br />56 <br />individuals, including city staff and a member from the Parks and Recreation Commission. Through the <br />57 <br />process, a Best Value Vendor has been identified. Requests for Proposals were released on April 8, 2013 with a <br />62 <br />deadline for submission on April 30, 2013. This is the largest design portion of the planning and <br />63 <br />management budget that was originally outlined for the entire program. The budget for this portion is <br />64 <br />$790,000.
