REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 5/13/2013 <br /> Item No.: <br />7.l <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consider Participation on Snelling Avenue Bus Rapid Transit Citizen <br />Advisory Committee <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br /> Metro Transit is beginning the design process to implement Bus Rapid Transit on the Snelling <br />2 <br />Avenue corridor. This is the first of a number of arterial roadway corridors throughout the metro <br />3 <br />area that are planned to operate bus rapid transit service. These corridors will be upgraded to <br />4 <br />light rail level transit service. Metro Transit is forming a Citizen Advisory Committee to help <br />5 <br />guide the project development. They are also forming a Technical Advisory Committee made up <br />6 <br />of staff from the various communities to review technical issues. <br />7 <br />Council Member Laliberte indicated an interest in serving on this Citizen Advisory Committee. <br />8 <br />The first meeting of this group is on May 15, 2013. The City Council may want to discuss this <br />9 <br />representation and formally appoint a member to the committee. <br />10 <br />PO <br />OLICYBJECTIVE <br />11 <br />The City Council has a current goal of improving transit opportunities for Roseville residents. <br />12 <br />FI <br />INANCIAL MPLICATIONS <br />13 <br />This project is proposed to be funded by Metro Transit.
