MEMORANDUM <br />To:Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From:Lonnie Brokke <br />Date:May 1, 2013 <br />Tuesday, May 7,2013 <br />Re:Notes forCommission Meeting on <br />Introductions <br />1. <br />Commissioners and staff will be introduced. <br />Public Comment Invited <br />2. <br />Public participationand public comment is encouraged. <br />Approval of Minutes of the April 2, 2013Meeting <br />3. <br />Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of April 2,2013.Please be prepared to approve <br />or amend. <br />Requested Commission Action <br />:Approve/amend meetingminutesof April 2, 2013 <br />FOR Parks 2014 Fundraiser Presentation <br />4. <br />The Friends of Roseville Parks (FOR Parks) is considering hosting a fundraising event at the <br />Skating Center in the fall of 2014. Specifically, they are exploring the option of having acraftbeer <br />tasting festivaltype event. They have been working hard on details and have preliminarily <br />discussed this with staff. A representative of FOR Parks will be at your meeting to provide a brief <br />overview of what they are thinking and get your reaction, advice, comments. <br />Requested Commission Action: <br />Hear presentation, provide feedback, advice and comments <br />Open Meeting Law Discussion with City Attorney <br />5. <br />The City Manager’s office has asked City Attorney, Mark Gaughan to provide information to all <br />City Commissions on the open meeting law.In preparation, enclosed is some information <br />regarding the open meeting law. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. <br />Requested Commission Action: <br />Discuss and ask questions <br />Park and Recreation Renewal ProgramPreliminary Plans and General Discussion <br />6. <br />The RenewalProgram continues with the secondset of preliminary plans nearing completion. <br />Following the processoutlined, the neighborhood meetings for the following projects are now <br />complete with the next step to receive your input andconsideration fora recommendationto the <br />City Council. Thesummary notes from the neighborhood/community meetings and the preliminary <br />plans in your packet for your review are as follows: <br />Central Park Victoria West <br />Central Park Victoria Ballfields <br />Central Park Legion Field <br />Bruce Russell Park <br />Howard Johnson Park <br />Roseville Skating Center <br />Materion Park <br />Tamarack Parkis also included in your packet but will require additional work with the <br />neighborhood prior to moving forward. The neighborhoodmeetings generatedquite a bit of <br />discussion and concern about the past, current and future use of the park and how it works with <br />the neighborhood. <br />Michael Schroeder, LHB/lead consultant and staff will be prepared to review the above mentioned <br />plans with you. <br /> <br />
