Schroeder <br />11 <br />INTRODUCTIONS <br />121. <br />13 <br />ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />142. <br />15Gary Grefenberg attendedtonight’s meeting to provide the Commission with a brief update on the <br />16Civic Engagement Task Force. The possibility of a new Roseville Commission has been suggested <br />17for Civic Engagement; to-date, this has been tied up with the Uniform Commission Code. <br />18 <br />19Grefenberg looked to inform the Commission that a recent committee of Roseville staff and <br />20community members had looked into opportunities for civic engagement as part of considerations <br />21for an upgrade City website. Components reviewed had the potential forstrong & effective 2-way <br />22community communications. To date, nothing has been acted upon. <br />23 <br />24Grefenberg also reminded the Commission and community of the upcoming Community Forum for <br />25a Safe and Connected Community on May 14. <br />26 <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES –APRIL 2,2013MEETING <br />273. <br />Commission Recommendation: <br />28Minutes for the April 2, 2013meeting were approved <br />29unanimously. <br />30 <br />FORParks2014 FUNDRAISER <br />314. <br />32Friends of RosevilleParks board members were in attendance at tonight’s meeting to update the <br />33Commission on a future community fundraising event. Sharon Brown was joined by Deborah <br />34Dallner, Corky LoBaido, Mary Kay VondeLinde and LuellaZibell. <br />35 <br />36FORParksis exploring event details andlogistics of hosting aCraft Beer Fest at the OVAL on <br />37October 14, 2014. Preliminary ideas include inviting micro-breweries to provide product tastings <br />38and promote local vendors. FORParks members will continue to work with Parks & Recreation <br />39staff to explore this unique fundraising event. <br />40 <br />OPEN MEETING LAW DISCUSSION WITH CITY ATTORNEY <br />415. <br />42Mark Gaughan, City Attorneywas present to discuss Commissioner Rightsand obligations in <br />43regards to the Minnesota Open Meeting Law. Key points included; <br />44The Open Meeting Law insures that meetings are noticed to the public and that work is <br />45being done in a way thatis accessible to the public. <br />46A “meeting” was described as anytime a quorum or forum gets together. <br />47A strong consideration in today’s world is the fact that virtual communication triggers the <br />48Open Meeting Law. The recommendation from Counsel is that electronic information <br />49should be sent through City staff, rather than using the replay all response when <br />50corresponding on City business with Commissioners. <br />51 <br /> <br />
