Lawn/Landscaping Short grasses on upland soils
Short grasses and mixed trees with 11-25 % impervious
cover
Short grasses and mixed trees with 26-50% impervious
cover
Impervious Surface Buildings and pavement with 91-100% impervious cover
Pavement with 91-100% impervious cover
The division of the Arden Hills parcel into these diffe ;" ategories was based
on analysis of aerial photography. Without data from IVILCCS, this method of
attributing categories based on best known information is acceptable but will
produce general differences in previous esb . ates. The MLCCS data for the
 °.
Roseville parcel can be assumed to be more accurate thao information available

when land cover was addressed in the 1986 EAW. .3 ,.
In addition, fhe land cover categories designated by the Stateu nnesota for

EAWs have changed befween 1986 and 2007. In 1986, the EAVii-: ",n did not
have a lawn/landscaping category. It is understandable then, thathe numbers
of acres for the categories would be different. The total acreage amount is also
different between 1986 1, d 2007. However, with the more detailed technologies
and information avarlabj' '_' the estimates are more accurate and based on
public data available fra -` ounty and the Minnesota DNR.
The land cover numbers
totals in th0iEAW.
Types 1-8 wetlands
Wooded/forest
Brush/Grassland
Cropland
Lawn/landscapi : '
Impervious surfac
Other
TOTAL
.75
0. 00
25. 01
21. 84
0. 00
94.64
been revised to reconcile the before and after
d caver estimafes are as follows:
(Revised)
After
17.75
5.20
2.28
0.00
23. 76
25.65
0.00
94.64
3. Comment: The stormwater plan identifies several areas for stormwater ponds
that are currently wooded. Does this mean that more woods will be removed
than was noted in Item #10? Will the replacement tree measure the same
caliper inches as the original tree removed?
Response: The exact location of new stormwater ponds has not been identified
because final design has not been completed. However, the Stormwater
Management Study did identify severa/ potential placements for new stormwater
ponds or the expansion of existing ponds based on the need for additional rate
control and water quality measures as wou/d like/y be required by the Rice
Creek Watershed District. The placement of these ponds could include the
remova/ of trees; but shou/d not significant/y change the /and cover estimates as
a result of pond placement. If tree removal is necessary, rep/acement trees will
be planted according to an approved Landscaping Plan that will be developed
TKDA Project No. 13529.002 Page 2 Draft Date: July 9, 2007
