Ms. Frank advised that each <br />service area was entirely separated from each other with square footage based on <br />total square footage available, their kennel and local licensing requirements, with <br />separate rooms and ventilation systems. Ms. Frank advised that solid pet waste was <br />flushed through toilet facilities, and otherwise wet waste was mopped and neutralized <br />through a trench drain system, all facilitated by interior plumbing modifications. <br />Ms. Frank also advised that the pet hotel was designed to reduce noise for the <br />comfort of the pets as well; with steps taken to ensure noise was not heard outside or <br />inside, with each specific area (play area, kennels) soundproofed through various <br />acoustic measures. <br />Public Comment <br />Mark Lindgren, _ Oakcrest <br />Mr. Lindgren opined his support of the application; however expressed his concern <br />regarding ongoing trash issues at the facility. <br />Chair Bakeman acknowledged Mr. Lindgren's concerns; and alerted Mr. Jones of the <br />ongoing issues with trash and impacts to residential neighbors adjoining the property; <br />who assured residents and the Commission that he had not been previously alerted of <br />the problem, but would immediately follow-up on neighborhood concerns. <br />Chair Bakeman closed the Public Hearing. <br />MOTION <br />Member poherty moved, seconded by Member Bakeman to RECOMMEND <br />APPROVAL of a CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (CUP) for Rosedale Commons LP <br />and PetSmart to occupy the former CompUSA tenant space within Rosedale <br />Commons Shopping Center, 2480 Fairview Avenue, based on the comments in <br />Section 5, findings of Section 6, and the condition in Section 6 of the project <br />report dated June 6, 2007; amended to specify uses as detailed in Schedule A, <br />Description of Request as follows: <br />"The Conditional Use Permit (CUP) allowing use of the premises for the retail <br />sale of: (i) pets (including but not limited to fish, birds, reptiles, dogs, cats and <br />oiher small anima/sJ; (ii) food, accessories and other products ielating to pets <br />and animals, including equestrian products; and (iii) services related io pets <br />and animals, such as grooming, boarding, pet day care, animal training and <br />obedience c/asses, pet adoption and veterinary services." <br />Ayes: 6 <br />Nays: 0 <br />Motion carried. <br />Chair Bakeman advised that the application would go before the City Council for <br />consideration at their June 18, 2007 regular meeting. <br />
