Thomas Paschke
From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:

Donald Molenaar[donald.molenaar.b@bayer.com]
Tuesday, November O6, 2007 5:02 PM
Thomas Paschke
RE: Roseville, MN - Offcial Website/pc-agenda
Attachments: Har_Mar_Outlot8l.pdf; Har_Mar_PropSitePlan 09-12-07.pdf
Thomas,
Thanks - these drawings look interesting and as if it would be an improvement. I have not made comments previously with
respect to public hearings so I am not sure what is appropriate. I will just then give my impressions about this matter:
- proposal looks good
- I presume restaurant fume mitigation is addressed ( unlike malodorous McDonald's on Snelling )
- signs should be low key to conform to more upscale environments ( urban design trends are going against garish/bright
advertising )
- proposal should be considered in light of overall HarMar remediation as it impacts this city area
- what about pedestrian friendly access - a major issue in the Snelling/B area?
- what about landscaping to further soften retail impact
- f nally, I would express the hope that the new owners of the HarMar properties consider mixed use applications that are now in
vogue and which could make this retail zone more of a shopping "destination", city center etc. which would fit in better with its
surroundings than the tired and outdated "mall" which it has regrettably become.
Regards,
Donald M.
