April 25, 2008
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Halberg,

Your neighbors at 1667 South Ridgewood Lane and 1666 & 1678 North Ridgewood Lane will
receive a copy of the letter below notifying them of your plans for your garage addition, which
will encroach into the required side- and rear-yard setbacks, and inviting them to participate in
the public process of commenting on your proposal. Although it's not specified in your
application, I'm assuming that you plan to place the shed 3 feet from the property lines — as close
as the Setback Permit allows. In case you haven't already spoken with these neighbors about
your plans, we encourage applicants to do so. If we receive letters, phone calls, or emails from
each of these households in support of your proposal, the required 10-day appeal period
following the decision of the Community Development Director will be eliminated; if the
setback permit is approved, the building inspector may then issue the necessary permit as soon as
it has been approved. You are, of course, encouraged to attend the hearing, but it is not required.
You are invited to attend and participate in the Roseville Setback Permit Review Committee's
(SPRC) Setback Permit Hearing on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Roseville City
Hall Hawthorne Room — in the lower level, adjacent to the Engineering Department.
Liz and Matt Halberg, 1675 South Ridgewood Lane, seek approval of a 2-FOOT SIDE- AND
REAR-YARD SETBACK PERMIT to accommodate a new garden shed; the proposed shed would
encroach 2 feet into the required 5-foot side yard setback and 2 feet into the required 5-foot rear
yard setback.
The Setback Permit process allows nearby property owners to comment on the proposal in
writing and/or at the meeting. Should you have any comments or questions about this Setback
Permit application, please feel free to email me at b an.11oyd(aci.roseville.mn.us or call me at
651-792-7073 or attend the SPRC's Administrative Hearing on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 3:00
p.m.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Setback Permit application and the proposed
plans. If the Setback Permit request is approved, a building permit can be issued ten (10) days
after the decision unless an appeal is filed before then.
Sincerely,
CITY OF ROSEVILLE
Bryan Lloyd
Associate City Planner
City of Roseville Community Development Department
2660 Civic Center Drive s• Roseville, Minnesota 55113
651-792-7005 ❖ www.ci.roseville.mn.us/development
 ... u__ _>', _, .
