Human Rights Commission Meeting Minutes April 17, 2013 Commissioners: Scot Becker, Vice Chair Jill Brisbois (arrived at 7:00 p.m.), Kristin Doneen, Chair Gary Grefenberg, Wayne Groff, David Singleton (left at 8:00 p.m.) and Kaying Thao Youth Commissioners: Joan Dao, Julia Laden and Marie Siliciano Staff Present: Carolyn Curti CALL TO ORDER The Human Rights Commission (HRC) meeting was called to arder at 6:35 p.m. Chair Grefenberg requested commissioners to introduce themselves. APPROVE AGENDA Commissioner David Singleton moved and Commissioner Scot Becicer seconded a motion to approve the agenda as distributed. Motion passed unanimously. APPROVE MINUTES Commissioner Wayne Groff requested a change on line 96 stating the essay contest should read 2013-2014. Commissioner Singleton moved and Cominissioner poneen seconded a motion to approve the March 20, 2013 meeting minutes as transmitted in the meeting packet and as amended by Commissioner Groff. Motion passed unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT There being no one present wishing to spealc to the Commission on an item not on the agenda, the chair moved to the next agenda item. OLD BUSINESS Program Planning Committee Revised Process and Proposed Rubric for 2014 Student Essay Contest: Chair Grefenberg noted that public copies of the revised process and proposed rubric could be found at the entrance to the Council Chamber or by contacting Staff Liaison Carolyn Curti at City Hall. Committee Chair Kris Doneen reviewed the revised proposed rubric for the 2014 student essay contest. She apologized for the delay in getting this to the Commission, as she was waiting to receive feedback from the local teachers. One comment obtained was that due to testing requirements and budget constraints, Roseville Area Middle School (RAMS) may have to stop participating.
