Doneen also noted the RAMS was participating in the Maplewood Human Rights poster contest <br />in addition to the essay contest. One teacher suggested the essay contest be changed to allow <br />students to submit posters as well. She explained to the teacher that the essay contest rules were <br />established by the League. <br />Chair Grefenberg suggested the Roseville HRC could approach the League to allow essay <br />submittals to be made in poster format. Program Planning Committee Chair poneen added that <br />after that discussion, the HRC could consider a poster contest. There was consensus to this <br />approach, ruled the Chair. <br />Commissioner Kaying Thao explained the Roseville High School had received funding for social <br />justice and the visual arts, and stated the poster contest could thus possibly be integrated into the <br />High School curriculum. <br />Commissioner Groff questioned how poster submittals would be judged by the HRC. <br />Committee Chair poneen then reviewed the_revised essay contest scoring process in further <br />detail. <br />Chair Grefenberg thanked Commissioner poneen for her work on revising the essay contest <br />process and rubric. <br />Commissioner poneen moved and Commissioner Singleton seconded a motion to approve the <br />revised essay contest process and proposed rubric for 2013-2014 as proposed by Committee <br />Chair poneen. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Committee Chair poneen discussed the revised rating sheet and noted five points has now been <br />added for personal relevance to the rating sheet. <br />Chair Grefenberg suggested personal relevance be worth more than five points. Commissioner <br />Doneen explained the reasoning behind assigning that criteria 5 points, a position with which <br />Commissioner Brisbois agreed The Commission was in favor of keeping the personal relevance <br />at five points. <br />Commissioner poneen moved and Commissioner Groff seconded a motion to approve the <br />revised rating sheet for the 2013-2014 essay contest as proposed by Chair poneen. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Update on Plans for Community Dialogues on Violence Apri130 and May 14: Chair <br />Grefenberg called the Commission's attention to the flyers for the upcoming community <br />dialogues on violence. He said violence or the fear of violence impacts many lives; the goal of <br />the dialogues was to address this issue with trained facilitators. He noted a light supper would be <br />held at the event. He encouraged each member of the HRC to attend. He asked HRC members <br />to assist with hosting the event. <br />
