-,
 .

August 20, 2008
Jeff Theisen
2034 Cleveland Avenue
Roseville, MN SSl 13
RE: Side Yard Setback Permit approval
Dear Mr. Theisen,
0
On Thursday, August 14th, the Setback Permit Review Committee (SPRC) reviewed and
recommended approval of a SIDE YARD SETBACK PERMIT to accommodate a home
addition that will encroach 6.5 feet into the required 33-foot side yard setback.
The SPRC found that the proposa] does satisfy more than eight of the applicable criteria for
approving a Setback Permit as listed in Section 1013.05 of the City Code, but had the following
reservations:
1. Some SPRC members were concerned that allowing a two-story addition to encroach into
the required setback adjacent to Skillman Avenue would have too much of a visual
impact, given the prevalence of rambler-style houses in the area; they recommended
limiting the addition to one story.
2. The Building Official noted that there are currently 8 open building permits on your
property and has requested that you schedule inspections for those permits; please call
651-792-7080 to begin scheduling these inspections. Once the building inspector has an
understanding of the work that has been completed (or that remains incomplete), he may
have additional recommendations for which of those outstanding permits would need to
pass final inspections prior to issuing another permit for the proposed home addition.
3. The City Code requires driveways to be paved, and the SPRC recommended approving a
Setback Permit with the condition that the driveway be paved in accordance with Code
requirements prior to the issuance of a building permit for the proposed home addition.
Pm not opposed to approving a Setback Permit for a two-story addition, but in consideration of
the concern of the SPRC, I'm requesting that you submit an elevation sketch of the proposed
addition; these illustrations need not be professionally prepared. Once I have reviewed the
elevation drawing(s) and the building inspector has informed me of the status of the open
building permits, I will make my decision regarding your Setback Permit application.
Should you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call me at 651-792-7071.
Sincerely,
CITY OF ROSEVILLE
 ✓✓r' °' '///''
 Patrick Trudg n `
Community Development Director
City of Roseville Community Development Department
2660 Civic Center Drive : Roseville, Minnesota 55113
651-792-7005 •:• TDD 651-792-7399 •: www.ci.roseville.mn.us
