Y

1

18 February 2009
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Peterson,
^
Now that I've reviewed your application more thoroughly, I've discovered that there are a few
pieces of information that I still need. First, from the email you received from Ryan Johnson at
the Ramsey Conservation District it appears that he has prepared an actual plan for the rain
garden he's recommending; if that's correct, please send me the PDF of that plan. Second, I need
more information about the existing impervious coverage. If your home and driveway were
constructed as indicated on the survey you provided, I can calculate their surface area; because I
don't know anything about sidewalks or patios on the property, though, I'll need that information
from you - as well as your coverage estimates of your house and driveway if they're different
from the survey. Finally (and unfortunately) I have to ask for the $75 application fee. If you
already paid the fee to the receptionist/cashier at City Hall, just tell me the check number and I
can request a copy of the receipt to put in your file. If you haven't already paid the application
fee, please send (or bring) it to me by February 26th.
Your neighbors at 1897 North Gluek Lane will receive a copy of the letter below notifying them
of your plans for an accessory structure which will create excess impervious coverage on your
lot, and inviting them to participate in the public process of commenting on your proposal. In
case you haven't already spoken with these neighbors about your plans, we encourage applicants
to do so. If we receive a letter, phone call, or email from this household in support of your
proposal, the required 10-day appeal period following the decision of the Community
Development Director will be eliminated; if the Administrative Deviation is approved, the
building inspector may then issue the necessary permit as soon as it has been approved. You are
encouraged to attend the hearing, but it is not required.
You are invited to attend and participate in an Administrative Deviation hearing on Thursday,
February 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Roseville City Hall Hawthorne Room — in the lower
level, adjacent to the Engineering Department.
Brad and Jan Peterson, 1903 North Gluek Lane, seek approval of a deviation from the maximum
allowed impervious coverage on a residential property (i.e., up to 30% of the parcel may be
covered by "hard surfaces") to accommodate a 192-square-foot accessory structure, resulting in
impervious surfaces covering more than 30% of the lot.
The Administrative Deviation process allows nearby property owners to comment on the
proposal in writing and/or at the meeting. Should you have any comments or questions about this
application, please feel free to email me at bryan.11ovd(cr,ci.roseville.mn.us or call me at 651-792-
7073 or attend the administrative hearing on Thursday, February 26 at 3:00 p.m.
City of Roseville Community Development Department
2660 Civic Center Drive S• Roseville, Minnesota 55113
651-792-7005 ti• www.ci.roseville.mn.us/development
