<br />neighborhood parks and open space development. This newsletter, assisted by Fairview Fields
<br />neighbors, made an aggressive outreach efFort to encourage as many SW residents to participate in
<br />the planning as possible. This may account for the fact that at some of the master planning commu-
<br />nity meetings there were more SW residents than those from any other neighborhood.
<br />SW hopes ride high on what may be forthcoming from this Parks and Rec planning effort, and are
<br />pleased with the opportunities it provided for our neighborhoods to become involved.
<br />Ironically another public developer, the Roseville School District, last January proposed to elimi-
<br />nate one of the few public open spaces remaining in SW Roseville through the construction of an
<br />athletic complex at the Fairview Fields behind the Fairview Community Center.
<br />Due to neighborhood opposition led by leaders like Karen Rajic and Mark Penning, the proposed ball
<br />field complex has been scaled back to one new ball field instead of the three once proposed for that
<br />site. However, this may simply be a temporary reprieve for the open green space which has af-
<br />forded the Fairview Fields neighborhood a gathering place and green oasis. In effect this remains an-
<br />other public development to watch so that the quality of life in our neighborhoods is not diminished.
<br />The asphalt plant site is the triangular area shown in red below.
<br />The closest neighborhood (Acorn Saints) is less than a 1/3 of a mile away.he Midland Grove
<br />Condos (Co. Rd. B and Cleveland) are less than a mile away.
<br />Fairview Community Center is one mile away.
