<br />Roseville Asphalt Plant Back on Track
<br />Origins: Over a year ago the agenda for a city council meeting listed
<br />for foilowing innocuous agenda item: Request by Bituminous Roadways
<br />for a conditiona/ use permit to allow outdoor storage of aggregate materia/s
<br />and heavy equipment at 2280 Wa/nut.
<br />Only if you attended that May 18`h council meeting would you have known
<br />that the outdoor storage involved asphalt stockpile and heavy equipment
<br />in support of the of the operation of an asphalt plant at 2280 Walnut
<br />Street". Not oniy would there be stockpiles of crushed old asphalt but a
<br />NEW asphalt production plant—with smokestack--adjacent. Only one
<br />resident showed up to testify on this item recommended for approval by
<br />staff and Planning Commission.
<br />Because of a citizens' petition filed with the State that very day the council was
<br />forced to postpone further consideration until a state environmental assess-
<br />ment was concluded.
