Organics <br />Roseville has held four Zero Waste events each year at which <br />organic material was collected for composting: <br />rd <br />Living Smarter Home and Garden Fair, 3 Saturday in <br />February <br />rd <br />Earth Day Celebration, 3 Saturday in April <br />th <br />Run for the Roses, 4 Saturday in June <br />nd <br /> Saturday in September <br />Wild Rice Festival, 2 <br />Previously Roseville staff and volunteers monitored the collection <br />stations during the events and gathered the organic material, and the <br />Contractor delivered the organic material to a composting facility. <br />As part of their Value Added Plan, Proposers are encouraged to <br />describe their experience conducting Zero Waste events. <br />Proposers are also encouraged to address in their Value Added Plan <br />their potential for curbside collection of organics. As part of its Solid <br />Waste Master Plan, Ramsey County is requiring cities offer residents <br />the opportunity to recycle organic materials by the end of 2016. <br />5.06. City Retains Right to Specify Resident Preparation Instructions <br />The Contractor shall agree that it is the City’s sole right to clearly <br />specify the resident sorting and setout requirements. Such <br />information shall be included in the annual public education flyer as <br />detailed in 4.05. <br />5.07. Procedure for Unacceptable Recyclables <br />If Contractor determines that a resident has set out unacceptable <br />recyclables, the driver shall use the following procedures: <br />Curbside <br />Contractor shall leave the unacceptable recyclables and leave an <br />“education tag” indicating acceptable materials and the proper <br />Note: a copy of the tag is to be included <br />method of preparation ( <br />with the proposal <br />). <br />If the unacceptable recyclables have been tipped into the collection <br />truck, the driver shall record the address of the stop. The Contractor <br />shall send a letter to the resident noting the unacceptable recyclables <br />and providing information on what are accepted recyclables. <br />19 <br /> <br />
