They <br />would not be required unless it was o life I safety issues. Smoke detectors <br />(even battery operated) in bedrooms o�e a State law provide (at a minimal <br />cost) a huge safety benefit. Eoch issue wou/d be evaluated based upon cost <br />verse benefit and safety issue. <br />32 Staff Summary Camment - Property maintenance will be an increasingly <br />33 important issue for maintaining property values and tax base with an oging <br />34 community. The IPMCis a nationolly recognized standard that does nat require <br />35 upgrades to existing housing stock (except {or rental property) and would be a <br />36 ve�y useful toa/ addressing those inevitable spo�adic properties thot are not <br />37 properly maintained and would otherwise end up dep�essing surrounding property <br />38 values. <br />
