Thomas Paschke
To: "RVPlanningCommission
Cc: Jennifer Johnson
Subject: SuperAmerica Follow-up
COMMISSIONERS;
Let me first apologize for some errors in the SuperAmerica report - errors that go beyond
those discussed yesterday. However, in the end it appears all works out - funny how that
happened!
Here is my new analysis: SuperAmerica has three existing signs that are counted toward
the total wall sign amount. The include: one for the car wash totaling 45 sq. ft.; a wall
sign/reader board totaling 24 sq. ft.; and a new wall sign issued days ago totaling 44 sq. ft
for an existing total of 113 sq. ft.
Then contrary to the report and discussion - the property is zone B-2 which district allows
10% of the building front or 200 sq. ft. whichever is greater. Here the cap for building
signage is 200 sq. ft.
That being said - 200 minus 113 equals 87, which is enough square footage to allow the
signs as proposed.
Now for the sign totals - I had a discussion (lengthy) with Lawrence Sign (contractor) to
confirming sign size. For the life of ine I am unable to recreate the 38 square feet as
indicated in the report - I come close a couple of times with a 39 and 40 but not 38.
Nevertheless, the actual size as proposed is 41.56 sq. ft. based on my review and
confirmation with Lawrence sign. That is a difference of 3-1/2 sq. ft. But, low and behold
2 proposed signs at 41.5 sq. ft or 83 total sq. ft. fall 4 sq. ft. under the cap of 87 sq. ft.
Confused yet??? I sure am!!! Any Questions??
Mark and comments??
THOMAS PASCHKE
CITY PLANNER
City of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Drive, MN 55113
Direct # 651-792-7074
