<br /> <br /> Position Requirements <br />Qualified candidates <br />shall possess a <br />Bachelor’s degree in <br />public or business <br />administration or a <br />closely related field and <br />a minimum of seven <br />years of local <br />government supervisory <br />experience. Master’s degree desired. The City Council is <br />interested in creating a strong pool of candidates and retains <br />the right to substitute experience for education that provides <br />equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. <br />Candidates shall also possess a strong working knowledge <br />of the role of a chief executive officer in a council/manager <br />form of government. Familiarity with the distinct <br />operations and functions of city services including general <br />government, budgeting and finance, community and <br />economic development, public works and parks, and public <br />safety is important. Knowledge of organizational <br />development, labor relations, strategic planning, capital <br />financing, project management and public infrastructure is <br />also essential. <br /> Professional Opportunities <br />Partnership with City Council <br />Build strong relationships by helping to define and <br />articulate roles and responsibilities. Serve as “CEO” and <br />provide effective policy guidance and encourage a <br />collaborative consensus based decision making culture. <br />Community Involvement <br />Volunteer and engage in community activities. Understand and learn how these changes will <br />impact city programs and services. Develop ideas and <br />future solutions to address the anticipated changes. <br />Economic Development <br />Provide leadership <br />tocreate a thriving <br />business <br />community. <br />Understand the <br />importance of a <br />viable business <br />community; reach <br />out to build <br />relations and <br />provide strategic ideas and direction for the City to <br />compete in a regional economy. <br />City Hall, Infrastructure and Capital Projects <br />Future opportunities include significant roadway <br />improvements, city hall, park development, and <br />infrastructure projects.
