I just wanted to let ou know what Ivas able to learn about
the wedands shown on the sur-e-s -ou pro-ided; }-ou'll see that this information is also included in
the City Council staff report.
'1'he Rehbein Companies survey y-ou proeided (showing the house on -our lot) suggests the
prescnce a wedand in the back yard, but when I talked to Tun Kytonen, the person who created that
survey, I learned that he uas simply indicating that a vedand vas shown, in that general area, on a
survey prepared by Schoell & 1ladson. The other, smaller-scale survey you provided appears to show
a wetland boundary that is considerably smaller than the one City staff used in our analysis; this is the.
Schoell & Madson survey referenced above. Schoell & Iladson's Dan Nikols clarified that the
boundary on this survey indicates an area that was visibly wet (i.e., "wet" [space] "land"), and not a
delineation of a wedand comprised of the characteristic soils, hydrology, and vegetauon. From m}-
perspective, this information helps to resolve the question of which wedand delineation may be the
most appropriate in our discussion of your variance applicarion.
'ith this transmittal Pve enclosed a copy of the agenda for the City Council meeting; your
ariance appeal is item 11. You'll also find the staff report/packet prepared for Council review. r1ll of
the attachments identified on page 5 of the report are included etcept for :ttachment H- the packet
from the Variance Board meeung, which you akeady have.
Please call me if you have any questions or concerns before the meeting.
