J
v
We believe that the area described in our Petition is unique within the City. It
consists of typically large lot sizes, some in excess of 4 acres. This area is heavily
wooded, and includes several natural ponds. Because of this environment, there is an
abundance of wildlife including: hawks, wild turkeys deer, ducks, geese, raccoons, etc.
This natural environment is beneficial both to the neighborhood and the Citr.
The quantity and diversity of trees and other plant life in this area provides habitat for
wildlife, retention of rainfall preventing flooding, absorption of carbon dioxide, and an
energy savings effect through the cooling of homes.
The existence of wildlife provides educational experiences for children and adults
alike, and is a general benefit to the entire City. .
Because of the large lot sizes in this area, there has been a recent surge in
subdividing and platting of parcels. This unrestricted development has caused some
deterioration to the environment, and threatens to do irreparable harm.
We believe that a moratorium is needed so that the Council and residents can
review the benefits this area provides, and create requirements that would be in keeping
with this natural environment.
o \ Pc_-N

PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
Wednesday, November lst at 6:30 p.m.
Please try to attend:
Meeting at City Council Chambers
