Acorn Park <br />Implementation Planning Session One <br />30 May 2013 <br />Page 2 <br />Exercise Two Perfect day <br /> <br />As a group focused on a park, participants were asked to share tthoughts about what <br />would make for a perfect day at the playground and park: <br /> <br /> Weather be good for walking my dogs. Not too many golf players. <br />grass cut along trails. Trails cleared and plowed in winter mont <br /> Walk in park seeing wildlife, plants, and trees; not hearing basketball. <br /> A bike ride with family to/through park; watching kids play on e <br />nature hikes/adventure walks with kids; winter ice skating; pl <br />shooting baskets; watching neighbors kids play baseball. <br /> Walking the trails without seeing cigarette butts at every step; re <br />benches along trails; watching/listening to wildlife; a water fo <br />wooded area (not too groomed); perhaps playing horseshoes (if <br />added). <br /> Park easily; course not packed; trash not overflowing; dont lose a disc righ <br />fairway; benches in good condition; better bridge on 18; new tee <br />and designated paths. <br /> A nice walk for myself; a nice walk for our daycare children; a <br />playground for our daycare children. <br /> Meet friends in lot and be able to get right on the disc golf co <br />rounds; after lunch, another round of golf; leisurely stroll thr <br />pathways with family. <br /> Quiet trails to walk and bike with kids (at least less people standing on trails); <br />larger playgroundswings, other kid equipment, kid friendly; more nature <br />and animals (more flowers and ornamental plants; more attraction <br />and animalsfeed, habitat). <br /> I am a walker; my husband is a rollerblader; I would walk in nature, seeing <br />birds, rabbits, wildlife; I would see wildflowers; my husband wo <br />rollerblade, winding through the park away from cars and streets <br />way to our house; Perfect! <br /> Biking in park without having to worry about running into people; playing on <br />playground equipment for ages 8-12; walking in the park without having to <br />worry about stepping into dog waste. <br /> <br />Exercise Three Ideas <br /> <br />Participants were asked to share their thoughts about ideas thata better park, <br />even beyond those elements that are included in the Parks and Re <br />Program: <br /> <br /> Dog bag <br /> Signs for mileage on trails <br /> Hire a course designerreimagine course <br /> Redesign disc golf course to nine holes and then maintain it <br /> The disc golf course is one of the most popular in the state, an <br /> <br />
