<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Mapleview Park <br />Implementation Planning Session One <br />6 June 2013 <br />27 Attendees Signed in <br /> <br />Meeting summary <br /> <br />Following an overview of the Parks and Recreation Renewal Program and the key directions <br />of the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan, meeting participants were asked to <br />respond to questions about potential improvements. <br /> <br />Exercise One Issues <br /> <br />As a group focused on a park, participants were asked to identify issues related to the <br />playground area or the park in general: <br /> <br /> Tree trim/weed control <br /> Survey park boundaries <br /> Parking—bump out on one side only, parking—unsafe on both sides <br /> Passive space is unusable <br /> Shelter is too far from ice rink <br /> Lighting is annoying—light pollution <br /> ADA accessibility/strollers, need a curb cut <br /> Shelter is outdated <br /> Weeds <br /> Outhouse is unsightly/half brick wall, need all summer <br /> Water fountain—none <br /> Adults: lawn swings or horseshoes/bocce ball <br /> There are playgrounds that are for elderly and children—so adults exercise also <br /> <br />Exercise Two Perfect day <br /> <br />As a group focused on a park, participants we re asked to share their thoughts about what <br />would make for a perfect day at the playground and park: <br /> <br /> Curb cut Farrington and Millwood and near pavilion—handicapped and baby <br />strollers <br /> Used all day—summer puppet wagon, daycare, little league <br /> Dogs on leash <br /> Playing on playground <br /> Cars not parked on both sides <br /> Water fountain <br />
