Human Rights Commission Minutes
July 17, 2013
Commissioner Groff stated this would allow for the work to be spread out more while also
creating a cushion when members were absent. He did not object to the addition-S of two HRC
commissioners.
Commissioner Singleton also supported the addition of two new members.
Commissioner Becker commented this would allow for the subcommittee work to be more
evenly spread about between the HRC members, and that the quorum prohibition for standing
committees would be less restrictive. Commissioner Becker also noted that being constantly in a
state of recruiting and selecting new commissioners could be a potential unintended consequence
of additional commissioners.
Ms. Curti reported the HRC had been 10 members several years ago and the group was reduced
to seven by the Council.
(Vice Chair Brisbois arrived at 6:50 p.m.)
Chair Grefenberg commented he would move forward with this information and report back to
the HRC at a future meeting.
Request for HRC Support on an August 20 Forum on Immigration Reform
Commissioner Grefenberg asked if the Commission was interested in supporting the August 20
forum on Immigration Reform. He explained Commission Thao and himself recommended the
group support the program.
Chair Grefenberg moved and Vice Chair Brisbois seconded a motion to recommend the
Roseville HRC promote the August 20 Forum on Immigration Reform. Motion passed
unanimously.
Other Committee Reports
Request for HRC Assistance on August 19 Program Sponsored by Falcon Heights Human
Rights Commission:
Chair Grefenberg stated Falcon Heights was seeking assistance from the Roseville HRC in
promoting a program scheduled for August 19. He explained last year the Commission
supported a similar program.
Commissioner Groff indicated last year the Falcon Heights talked to him about participating in a
forum. He recommended the HRC participate.
Commissioner Singleton questioned what level of participation Falcon Heights was seeking at
this time.
