Human Rights Commission Minutes
October 16, 2013
Other Standing Committee Reports
There were no other committee reports.
New Business
Minnesota Department of Human Rights Symposium on December 5, 2013: Chair
Grefenberg explained the Minnesota Department of Human Rights Symposium would be held on
December 5, 2013. He encouraged those interested in attending to RSVP with staff and the $85
fee would be covered by the Commission.
Staff Report: Carolyn Curti discussed the proposed business cards stating the minimum run for
the printer was 500 cards. She suggested the cards be made generic to allow members to write in
their names and numbers.
Commissioner Singleton indicated that he had discussed with a print company the production of
business cards for each commissioner, including their individual contact information if the
commissioner so wished. He volunteered to pay for the cards themselves.
Commissioner Groff expressed opposition to a generic business card where each commissioner
would need to write in his name and contact info, saying it seemed to be contrary to the very
purpose of having such cards.
Commissioner Singleton requested permission to coordinate this issue with City Manager
Trudgeon. Chair Grefenberg asked to be involved in that discussion as well.
Future Agenda Items
Chair Grefenberg requested staff be prepared to discuss preliminary foundation and grant
resources available in 2014 at the November meeting.
Adjournment
Commissioner Groff moved and Vice Chair Brisbois seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion
passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
