U�b S <br />H+--Jf 7F <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />D ate : January 13, 2014 <br />Item No.: 13.b <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consider Next Steps in City Manager Hiring Process <br />BACKGROUND <br />After former City Manager Malinen resigned in May of 2013, the City Council appointed Pat <br />Trudgeon as Interim City Manager and began to consider a hiring process. Shortly after that, <br />consideration of the hiring process was suspended until January 2014, and Mr. Trudgeon and the <br />Council developed several goals and objectives for his performance. The intention at that time <br />was to review Mr. Trudgeon's performance in January 2014 and then revisit consideration of a <br />7 City Manager hiring process. <br />8 <br />9 The City Council evaluated Mr. Trudgeon's performance at its January 6, 2014, meeting, and <br />lo summarized the conclusions earlier in this meeting. <br />11 <br />12 Accordingly, the next action for the City Council is to discuss next steps in a City Manager <br />hiring process. <br />1 REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Determine the next steps in a City Manager hiring process, and provide direction to staff and /or <br />the Council City Manager Evaluation Subcommittee as appropriate. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
