There was nothing <br />273 to report. <br />274 <br />275 Chair Grefenber� asked if there were anv objections to authorizing the ad hoc subcommittee to <br />276 submit a�reliminarv outline of Culture Fest events to the Parks De�artment without Commission <br />277 review in December in order to meet the Januarv lst deadline. There bein� none, Chair <br />27g Grefenber� concluded that the ad hoc committee could submit the re�ort without formal HRC <br />2�9 review and a�roval bv the Januarv lst deadline. �''�° ��"��� � ��**°° T��'�"�°��� �° <br />2go . <br />Zgi <br />282 <br />283 <br />284 <br />285 <br />286 <br />287 <br />288 <br />Other Standin� Committee Reports: None. <br />Staff Renort <br />Financial Report: Ms. Curti reviewed the financial report in the meetin�packet with the <br />Commission. <br />2g9 Vice Chair Brisbois questioned why the Commission had spent $580 at the Nelson's Cheese & <br />290 Deli. Chair Grefenberg explained these expenses were to provide food at the two Community <br />291 Dialogues and the reception for the student essay contest winners e�e��. He reported all but $83 <br />292 was reimbursed to the City by the Bush Foundation or the Minnesota League of Human Rights. <br />293 <br />294 <br />295 <br />296 <br />297 <br />298 <br />Commissioner Thao requested the financial reports reflect that these expenses were reimbursed. <br />Commissioner Becker questioned the balance available to the HRC at this time. Ms. Curti <br />indicated the current balance available to the HRC was approximately $1,700. <br />299 There was a brief discussion as to whether anv of the unexpended funds from calendar vear's <br />300 2013 bud�et would be available for ex�enditure bv the Commission in 2014. Commissioner <br />301 Thao asked staff liaison Curti to research this question and report back to the Commission. <br />302 <br />303 2014 Essay Contest: Ms. Curti explained the Commission received 116 essays from Roseville <br />304 Area Middle School. Parkview School decided to not participate in the essay contest this year. <br />305 She reported the essays have been distributed to Vice Chair Brisbois and Commissioner <br />306 Courneya who had �reviouslv volunteer to €e� do the first round of reviews. The essays would <br />30� be evaluated and then a full commission review would �1�e be�in in mid-December. The <br />3og top essays along with the scoring rubric and guidelines would be distributed to all <br />309 Commissioners in December. Commissioners will have until February 7 to score the essays.
