Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, December 9, 2013 <br /> Page 7 <br /> Mr. Trudgeon noted that there may be a variance request in the future, as current <br /> code did not allow garages facing Main Street; however, he noted that this in- <br /> volved a corner lot. <br /> City Planner Thomas Paschke advised that, since November's Planning Commis- <br /> sion meeting, Meritex had received a Variance allowing dock doors to face Wal- <br /> nut Street. Mr. Paschke further noted that, as the project proceeded through the <br /> permitting process and working with staff, this preliminary grading plan and <br /> drainage issues would be solidified as elevations are determined. <br /> At the request of Councilmember Etten, Mr. Paschke confirmed that it was the in- <br /> tent that the final elevations which serve the goal to screen views, while allowing <br /> the applicant the best use of the property to bring a rail line to the building and al- <br /> low for their efficient use of the site. <br /> At the request of Councilmember McGehee regarding this warehouse use, Mr. <br /> Paschke clarified that the business would receive materials by train, with trucks <br /> also used to distribute those materials. Mr. Paschke advised that he could not ad- <br /> dress Councilmember McGehee's concern with the amount of that truck traffic; <br /> however, he noted that this type of permitted use would allow for both truck and <br /> other vehicular traffic as its business model. <br /> At the request of Councilmember McGehee, Mr. Paschke advised that he did not <br /> have an accurate employee count for the proposed business at this time. <br /> Etten moved, McGehee seconded, approval of the proposed PRELIMINARY <br /> PLAT of Outlot A of the Highcrest Park Second Addition as recommended; based <br /> on the comments and findings of Section 3 — 5 and the recommendation of Sec- <br /> tion 6 of detailed in the RCA dated December 9, 2013. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: Willmus; Laliberte; Etten; McGehee; and Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> h. Ramsey County CAD Agreement <br /> At the request of Mayor Roe, Interim City Manager Trudgeon reviewed this re- <br /> quest as detailed in the Request for Council Action (RCA) dated December 9, <br /> 2013. <br /> Councilmember McGehee questioned if there were any budgetary implications, or <br /> if they were already included as part of the $60,000 allotted for dispatch services <br /> with Ramsey County. <br /> Interim City Manager Trudgeon clarified that this contract would not start until <br /> 2015; and sought further comment from Police Chief Mathwig. <br />
