City. Another neighborhood meeting will be scheduled in 2014. Azer suggested that extra
47
efforts be made to work with and invite the Karen Community into the conversations.
48
49
Commissioner Doneen inquired about trail projects and their inclusion in the upcoming
50
RFP’s and the SW Roseville (SW) approach, timeframe, status and the allotted $1M budget.
51
It was explained that the trail projects are in need of some sorting but it is the goal to include
52
as many in the upcoming RFPs as possible. For SW, it is anticipated that a community
53
meeting would be scheduled sometime after the first of the year. Discussions are occurring
54
with a property owner and should there be a favorable outcome, a meeting would be
55
scheduled to plan that parcel as well as discuss other possible SW options based upon the
56
Master Plan. This may include pathways/trailsas outlined in the Master Plan as a
57
connectivity strategy. County Road B has been a more recent topic of interest by resident and
58
the City Council resulting in a request to staff to prepare potential design and funding
59
options.
60
61
5.ACCREDITATION 2014
62
Staffexplained thatRosevilleParks and Recreation is preparing to go through its 5 year
63
Accreditation renewal process in May of 2014. The Accreditation process consists of an on-
64
site audit of 151 standards in 10 major categories including: agency roles and responsibilities,
65
planning, organization and administration, human resources, finance, program and service
66
management, facility and land use management, safety and security, risk management and
67
evaluation and research. A brief history of the program and a review of the 10 category
68
highlights were provided.
69
70
The general benefits to being accredited were discussed including: assurance of soundly
71
administered services in accordance with approved professional practices, financial support
72
and savings to the public, external recognition of a quality government service, increased
73
efficiencies and accountability, a marketing tool to draw residence and establish pride.
74
75
Commissioner Gelbach indicated an interest in assisting with department marketing efforts in
76
any areas that he can. This would include the Renewal Program and the Accreditation
77
Program specifically creating awareness and communicating their purpose and benefits to the
78
community. Staff will connect with Gelbach to discuss options.
79
80
6.STAFF REPORT
81
The Commission’s recommendation that the Park Dedication rate remainthe same for
82
2014 was approved by the City Council.
83
84
Several program opportunities were highlighted including cross country ski classes
85
and ski rentals, snowshoeing event at the Nature Center, outdoor rinks, open pickle
86
ballat Brimhall gymnasium and the Skating Center open skating schedule.
87
88
It was reported that the City Council has continued to discuss the volunteer
89
coordinator position options.
