Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday, February 10, 2014 <br /> Page 33 <br /> Connect and partner with neighborhood, community, educational, business and <br /> social service groups and organizations; and review and recommend opportunities <br /> to collaborate." <br /> Item B <br /> Councilmember Etten questioned the proposed language, opining that this com- <br /> mission would be actively doing things different than other advisory commis- <br /> sions, and questioned if they would be recommending strategies as noted, or actu- <br /> ally be promoting them. <br /> Item C <br /> Councilmember Laliberte noted that she had combined later items from the origi- <br /> nal proposal in this item. <br /> Mayor Roe spoke in support of that combination, opining that they were essential- <br /> ly doing the same things. <br /> By consensus Item "C" was approved in totality as suggested by Councilmember <br /> Laliberte(green type). <br /> Items D, E, F, and J <br /> By consensus, these items were removed in their entirety. <br /> Item G <br /> Councilmember McGehee argued that Item "G" should not include all these <br /> things listed when those responsibilities already belonged with other departments. <br /> Mayor Roe opined that Item"G" could be eliminated altogether from his perspec- <br /> tive. <br /> By consensus, it was deleted in its entirety. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte clarified that it was not the intent of her proposed lan- <br /> guage to have the commission take over those other things, but to take advantage <br /> of the existing things they had already put in place for the purpose of education <br /> and engagement. <br /> Councilmember McGehee concurred with that concept; however, she opined that <br /> it should be up to the commission, since there may be other ones. <br /> Mayor Roe noted that the intent was covered in previous items, and the body af- <br /> firmed their consensus to remove Item"G." <br /> Items H and K <br />
